Kenya’s Agriculture Sector Boosts Exports and Jobs, Signaling Strong Growth in 2025
Kenya’s agriculture sector is showing strong confidence in 2025, with 20% of agricultural firms planning to expand their workforce, up from 16% in May, according to the Central Bank of Kenya’s July Market Perceptions Survey. This optimism is fueled by rising exports, as coffee shipments surged by 63% to 32,290 tonnes and exports of flowers, fruits, and vegetables increased from 99,325 to 138,193 tonnes between January and May 2025. The growth in exports has enabled firms to boost production, expand operations, and create more jobs, strengthening rural economies and supporting national recovery. Despite broader economic challenges, agriculture’s resilience and global demand highlight its central role in Kenya’s economic growth and job creation.
