Kenya Secures Near-Zero Tariff Access to China, Boosting Agricultural Export Prospects
Kenya has secured a preliminary trade agreement with China granting duty-free access for nearly all exports, a move set to significantly boost agricultural shipments into the Chinese market. The near-zero tariffs enhance competitiveness especially for Kenyan coffee, opening up a consumer base of around 1.4 billion people and removing a major cost barrier for exporters. This is expected to increase export volumes and margins, supporting investment in coffee production and value-added processing under the “early harvest” framework.
