Ethiopia has launched a Post Harvest Management and Mechanization Center, developed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) with Austrian funding, to provide effective and affordable solutions across agricultural value chains. The center will act as a hub for training, technology transfer, and collaboration, aimed at reducing post-harvest losses and strengthening food security. It also emphasizes gender-inclusive agribusiness, recognizing women as leaders and innovators in the sector. Aligned with Ethiopia’s Ten Year Development Plan and National Post-Harvest Loss Management Strategy, the initiative supports modernization, local manufacturing, and innovation in agriculture.
