Ethiopia and UAE Partner to Boost Coffee Value, Climate Resilience, and Farmer Incomes
Ethiopia’s Ministry of Finance and the UAE’s Zayed Foundation are preparing a strategic development initiative focused on agricultural resilience, coffee value addition, and climate adaptation, with smallholder farmers at its core. Led by State Minister Semereta Sewasew, discussions highlighted Ethiopia’s ongoing macroeconomic reforms, including debt management, currency liberalization, and greater private-sector participation to support export competitiveness. The Zayed Foundation emphasized a shift from short-term aid to long-term farmer empowerment through modern equipment, technical tools, and financial education. The project framework is now being finalized ahead of a formal signing, signaling a coordinated push for sustainable growth and stronger export performance.
