Ethiopia Unveils INVEST Platform to Boost Oilseed and Sorghum Production

Ethiopia introduced its INVEST platform at the Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF) 2025 in Dakar, spotlighting major opportunities in both oilseed and sorghum value chains. Backed by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and national experts, the government presented evidence showing strong investment readiness, particularly in sorghum, which is key to food security and resilience. A centerpiece of the pitch was the 1 billion USD Oilseed Investment Case (2025–2028), projected to create 174,000 jobs, unlock 4.2 billion USD in value, and reduce import dependence in a market expected to reach 25 billion USD by 2030. Together with IDH and private partners, Ethiopia is advancing market led strategies that empower smallholder farmers, strengthen SMEs, and promote sustainable local sourcing. For investors, the initiative offers both solid returns and a chance to help transform Africa’s food systems.
